What can I do with these semi-sweet chocolate squares?

I have these chocolate squares and I can't figure what to do with them. I used one for a chocolate frosting recipe. What do I do with the rest of the package?

chop them up and bake cookies!

You can add them to various dishes. I find that they really add depth to tomato-based chilies and soups. I add them to taco meat, too.

We have a brownie recpe that calls for melting chocolate chips. I'm sure you could substitute the baking squares and add some sugar to it. Or, just go to a recipe website such as allrecipes.com and search for recipes with "baking chocolate" as an ingredient.

For a simple chocolate sauce just melt the chocolate and thin it out with a little heavy cream. Drizzle it on ice cream or over another cake.

You can make nice hot chocolate by heating milk and adding 1-2 oz of chocolate per cup of milk. I use cow's milk, but you could try a substitute, as long as it's one that heats well.

Brownies!

Melt 2 oz w/ 1/2 a stick of butter in a pan on the stove (low heat)
add 1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
mix well
add 1/2 a cup of flour
you can also add 1/2 a cup of nuts if you want

bake at 325 for 25-30 min in an 8x8 pan w/ parchment paper in the bottom

these are chewy and wonderful!

since they are semi sweet there is no need to add sugar-chop them and use them any way you would use chips.

we like rice crispy squares with melted chocolate spread on top and then chilled to firm up the chocolate.

Give them to me!

I use mine for orange chocolate chunk cake...mmmmm

Eat them. Oops, did I just say that out loud?

I find semi-sweet chocolate is fine for eating, it's not bitter like unsweetened chocolate. I don't like things that are overly sweet though so YMMV.

Melt them and make hot chocolate! (or just eat them...)

Try melting them down, and then making this recipe for banana and chocolate-honey sauce! sounds delish! http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recip...colate/?page=7

I just leave them in my pantry until I have another recipe that calls for them. It's few and far between. That way, next time I have a recipe that needs one (like your frosting recipe) - I don't need to go out and buy a whole 'nother package!

Last time I used some was for this recipe:

Thanks for all the suggestions. My daughter and I are hot chocolate fans so I might try that. We also love chocolate and found out she is allergic to wheat and that we are both allergic to corn(that rules out products with baking powder), safflower oil, sunflower oil. I have to start doing more of my own sweet treat baking. These recipes for chocolate syrup and brownies will come in handy.
