triming prefolds...edging????

i am cutting prefolds that are falling apart into breast pads and gdiaper inserts...

-how should i finish the cut edges?

1. a zigzag not touching the edge with a straight stitch through it?

2. a zizag going over the edge (tried it not successfully)

3. a three step zigzag

4. overlock stitch

i have never tried the other ways

An over lock stitch on your sewing machine is most like a serger which is what I would use.

Fold over elastic is great ... if you have it
