Should I be pumping?

Hi there,
My new little bundle is now 5 days old. We had kind of a bad start to nursing (sore, cracked, bleeding nipples) That I think was all a result of bad postitioning. But now things are fine, my milk is in and she is nursing great.
But should I be pumping as well. My sister-in-law keeps saying that I should start now. But I just don't see a reason to if I'm not planning on bottle feeding just yet. But on the other hand there are times that I have a let down and baby is just not ready to nurse right then.

It will get better, you do not need to pump, in fact our nurse said when we had dd that the only thing that will happen is more milk will come in. Now on the other hand if you want back up milk so you can go out you could pump. But that might just be a little too overwhelming right now with a 5 day old. They say the first 2 weeks are the hardest for breast feeding and they literally are in 9 days you probably won't be having such fullness.

Good luck and Congratulations!

You don't need to pump. I nursed 3 kids and never even owned a pump. In the early weeks if your breasts feel like they need to feed then you can initiate a feeding or hand express a little.
