Cloth Diapering Mommas - Page 2

I love CDs!

We've only used CDs so far, and haven't had any issues. But he's not a super soaker, and he only pees about once every 4 hours (and he tells me as soon as he does). He didn't poo for the first 11 days of life, now he's having one a day.

I haven't even put a cover on him yet, just using fitteds... since he tells me immediately, and he's only wearing a t-shirt and a dipe, not much need for me to put a cover on him.

ugh we finally got through all of our sposies this morning (I have been too wrecked to think cloth for a while) and put on the small fuzzi bunz that ds used when he was this small and they didn't fit around the legs at all. So DH went out and bought more sposies.

This is my first time cloth diapering full time. With my other two kids, I used a disposable at night and if we went out, and cloth at home during the day.

Cormac is wearing Kissaluv 0s without a cover during the day. We're ECing too, so I don't want a cover to have to wrestle on and off when he has to pee!

At night I have him in small Fuzzi Bunz. They are *so* high in the rise still, but other than that they fit fine. Man, I love pocket diapers! These are seconds so they cost a little less, but they look and work fine. They don't come with an insert, so I use an orange-edge Green Mountain Diapers prefold in there. It can hold a LOT of pee; I think I could get away with changing him once per night but I do it twice.

I also cut up a fleece scarf and made little liners to lay in all the diapers. A lot of times he'll just have a little poopy skidmark when I go to put him on the potty, so I can just change out the liner instead of wasting the whole diaper! Plus an extra layer of fleece keeps him feeling very dry- often you have to put your hand inside the pocket and feel the prefold to tell if he has peed.

And I have to say, if you are having/are worried about nighttime leaks, get or make a puddle pad! My favorite baby purchase was this. It was expensive, and it's so not like me to spend that kind of money, but as DH said: "If that buys me not having to wake up at 3 am and hear ' now we have to change the sheets!', then it was worth it!" And for the couch, I bought a really soft, big men's wool sweater at the thrift store and washed it so it would be felted. I lay Cormac on there with no cover, and everything is protected.

I have a stash of BG 3.0 Organics that we'll start using in the next couple days. I had a couple packages of 7th Gen sposies that were given to us and I'm using them first. DH as been so great with everything else (I couldn't go down the stairs until yesterday) that I didn't want to add extra laundry on top of everything else he was doing. I can't wait to use the BTG's, though - they are so much cuter!
