Stiff Prefolds-how to fix?

Lately I have been noticing my unbleached indian prefolds are a bit stiff. I am washing in Charlies Soap, with a bit of Baking Soda added for my hard water. Since it's turned cold here in New England I am drying in the clothes dryer. I don't use fabric softner (for obvious reasons) I use dryer balls.

Any way to get the softness back without ruining my diapers?

I use unbleached Indian pfs too. Use about 1/2 cup of vinegar in the rinse. Vinegar is a natural fabric softener, it also helps to remove any residue left on the dipes.

We don't have diaper laundry but I use vinegar in my regular wash instead of the fabric softener. If that doesn't work there is something else that I've heard of folks using for softening dipes - I think it's called Ecover fabric softener.

yep! Vinegar is great, and if it doesn't come out as soft as you'd like, a little Ecover fabric softener should do it

For hard water, I also used to use water softner with my cloth diapers and that helped.

What I do is hang my dipes to dry in the sun and then just air fluff them to get them soft. It is getting cooler where i live too.

Good luck!!
