Our Professional Homebirth Photos

Hi all -

We had a perfect homebirth 9 days ago and I just wanted to share our photos! We hired a pro this time because I have virtually no pictures from my previous three births. It can be a big expense, but these photos have already become a family treasure - so worth every penny!

The slideshow is at the bottom of the post.

Those made me tear up, especially the one of you holding your baby in the pool.

A friend of mine is a professional photographer and was going to photograph the birth...but it went so fast she didn't make it!

I'm still crying! You are so beautiful in those pictures, and your oldest daughter was just amazing. I'm very close to birth and have had a terrible pregnancy... unplanned to boot. I've been really detached and miserable and not looking forward to any of it. After watching this I'm so amazed at what my body is doing again, and realized I created another new little life! I mean, yes I knew this, but it's in my heart now. I was unsure of how to love this baby that has felt "unwanted" for lack of a better word, and watching your video just really changed so much for me. Thank you so much for sharing such an intimate moment with us. You have no idea how much it helped me. I can't wait to birth this new little one now.

Me too!!

Do you mind if I share this on my Facebook. I'm friends with doulas and midwives and I know they would appreciate this as well as hopefully encouraging my friend who is about to have her first at home. This is just so lovely and I love how your photographer described everything.

This is just so beautiful! Congrats to you and your family!!

That was so beautiful, so tastefully done. I'm having a birth photographer who is coming for free, but the pictures will be used in a book about HBing. Seeing your slide show made me feel a lot better about how tasteful it could be done. Thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you for sharing. We're constantly preparing our dc for the upcoming birth, so I immediately called them in to watch!

Incredibly gorgeous photos wow!!!! They are definitely worth every penny ... if you could share or PM me how the $$ aspect of this service worked that would be awesome as I'm interested in birth photog as well.

Gorgeous photos! I completely understand your desire for pictures. I have plenty of pictures of ds' birth (a primary c/s) and maybe two or three from dd's. I've always wished it were the other way around. We looked into a birth photographer, but it came up too expensive. Your pictures turned out exactly the way I always pictured ours would in my mind. What a wonderful way to remember your lo's birth!

Aww! Beautiful! I would love to hire a photographer.

Aww!! Those are gorgeous!! Love them. I'm still contemplating on whether I want to hire one. I'm a photog, but the plan was to have DH take them, but we don't know if he'll be here for the birth.

Your birth pictures are absolutely so BEAUTIFUL!!!! I wish I could afford to hire someone to come do the same pictures for us, but we just can't right now. One of our midwives is an amazing photographer and she'll do pics for us, but I worry that she will not get all of the moments captured because she's ALSO the midwife! Oh, and if they have to split up (which I always end up birthing the same night as another mom it seems), then she might not make it there at all. I'm also a photographer, so I COMPLETELY understand the importance of these pictures!

Seeing the picture of your littlest daugther with her head pressed against yours while you're in the tub, put me into tears! Absolutely beautiful!
