Wow! How wonderful to find this site!
I'm planning a VBAC at home & as I look for support, advice & comradery on other message boards, I'm constantly getting replies like
"VBACs/Homebirths are dangerous!" - No they're not!
"I hope you've discussed this with your OB!" - I don't HAVE an OB!
"At least have a midwife present!" - Duh!
I've been accused of not caring about the safety of my baby!! And one woman actually insisted that I HAD to have the VBAC in the hospital - she said that I could certainly have a natural birth as long as I was continuously monitored & had the line run for an epidural. Yeah, THAT's natural.
I am not looking to convert all those women out there who plan on an epidural, no questions asked. Everyone has a choice - for the most part - but I just want to talk with others who have had this experience or are planning one.
My research shows that I put myself & my baby at greater risk when I step inside a hospital to birth. I've worked hard to com to this decision with my husband & midwife & I'm so happy to find other like-minded women who feel that unnecessary medical intervention & the status quo of childbirth & child rearing are just not cuttin' it!
Glad to be here!!
