GREEN poop...

Hi. This website was recommended to me so I thought I'd give it a try...

My son is 9 weeks old, will be 10 weeks tomorrow. Since birth he has been bf. For the last 4 days he's had green poop. Looks almost like cooked spinach and a little watery/foamy. He doesn't seem any different in behavior or anything. No fever, maybe a little gassy. Has a little trouble falling asleep during the day, but I think it's because he is not in a dark room. (we are in a loft) When I put blankets over his swing to nap, he'll fall asleep most likely. At night, he's a perfect sleeper. No problems there. I've tried nursing only on one side so that he would get as much hindmilk as possible. I've not had dairy for a couple days to see if that would change his poop. And about an hour ago, still green. I have a dr. appt for him in about an hour, but I want to get your opinion. Please and thank you in advance!

Green poop is a sign of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, which is sounds like you may know

Block feeding is the strategy of nursing on one side for a block of time, to ensure the baby is emptying the breast for more hindmilk. How long did you nurse on one side before switching to the other? If you don't see results within a couple of days I'd increase it to the time you stay on one side only. Are you pumping? How much is he nursing at night?

thanks for your help!! it turned out to be nothing pretty much recently my 'let down' has been pretty fast, dr said that it may just be going through his system quickly and not to worry. my husband and i have high metabolisms so he may have inherited that!
thanks again

Sorry to butt in, but this sounded a little concerning for a SIDS risk. Maybe it's not at all what I'm picturing, but are you covering his swing with a blanket to keep it dark?

Anything that reduces free air flow around the baby can increase the risk for SIDS (I think I've heard even the crib bumpers are a bad idea for this reason). Just thought I'd give a heads-up, in case!

thanks for your concern!

i do not and would not cover anything fully. if i do use a blanket to make it darker for him, it's only half covered. and i also leave the front open
