can i freeze kale?

Thread Starter
I would like to buy a bunch of kale and freeze it so we can add it to soups whenever without having to cook it too long or worry about it going bad in the fridge. I am thinking of chopping it, steaming it, and freezing it. (like chopped frozen spinach you can buy in the store, but i think kale is better for you then spinach)

any tips?

Sure ... you can buy chopped frozen kale, turnip greens (my own favorite), etc, too, btw, not just spinach.

Personally I would chop it, blanch it, press it with towels to get out the excess water, and freeze it in portions you're likely to use since it can be a bit of a pain to separate once frozen. Just google blanching greens or blanching kale and you'll find a bunch of info.

I froze a whole bunch of kale last year. I just chopped it and froze it. It cooked up beautifully later.
