Phi Theta Kappa?

I got a letter from my college's Phi Theta Kappa chapter. I am wondering if any of you signed up for this, and was it worth it to you? It's an honor society, and the official one of 2-year colleges.

The cost is $75.. which would be a lot for me to come up with right now, so, it really has to be worth the cost for me.

I got the same letter but I don't have any advice. It seems like a good thing but I am unsure if it is worth it, especially since I plan on transfering to a midwifery school instead of a 4 year. Congrats to you though, it means you do great in school!

Congrats!

It is worth it for the access you get to some scholarships that the rest of the world won't. If you can't afford it right now, could you do it next semester?

I got a letter like that last year, but have since transferred to a university. I couldn't afford it either. If only there were some sort of scholarship available for these things!

I emailed the coordinator and asked about a scholarship to help pay the membership fee and said there wasn't.. but, I mustered up the courage to ask my mom to help me pay for it (she never helps me with money or education) and she said she would

Congratulations!

Yes, it is worth it! I paid $80 to join several years ago, and it was worth every penny. After joining Phi Theta Kappa, I received scholarship offers from tons of universities all over the country. Colleges want students with high GPAs.

I graduated a couple of years ago, but there are still benefits. I get discounts on my T-Mobile phone service, Geico auto insurance, and other cool stuff. Go for it!

I would guess that it would be worth it depending on your future plans, which I'm assuming include transferring to a four-year institution. I joined the local chapter at my community college and once I was a member I got involved in various volunteer projects to earn a par excellence status. Of course I included that information in my applications to universities. I was in turn accepted at a major university and received a full scholarship from two different universities.

If you think that you might need an extra edge for whatever your future plans are, then for sure I'd think the $75 would be worth it.

And congratulations!
