indentifying tree with berries

I'm not sure if this is the right place.
My boys and I are really into foraging, but only foraging things we know!

We came across a small tree with lots of dark purple/red berries.

Can someone direct me to a place on the internet where I can find the information?

They are small round berries, over 50 on each section. The berries are concentrated into small sections, shaped onto small twigs, forming a plate like flatness.

I don't know how to describe better, and I can't find a place where I can go

any ideas?

Google elderberry and see if it is similar.

Steve Brill has a great online guide to wild edibles. You might be able to find it on his site:
