Sick Rabbit. Help!

We have a 7 mo old male holland lop rabbit; he isn't the most snuggli of rabbits, and has bit one of my daughter's friends on one occassion. With that said, we attend to him every day and he is well loved (just not picked up a lot).

This morning my husband noticed that he didn't look well. Swollen, lethargic, heavy breathing. I went out there and sure enough this rabbit looks really sick. Body swollen, can't see/open his eyes, he fell over when I brought him some new hay, . . . . what is going on? I found "bloat" as a possiblity online, but he hasn't had any new foods introduced and we don't give him any greens or anything; none of his food has been moldy or anything.

????????

Our rabbit passed away at the vet's the morning; unclear the reason; potentially a brain tumor or a stroke. Vet said he has never seen anything like this. My little girl is going to be so sad.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
It sounds like it was an intestinal blockage. It happens. Like you, we also took really good care of our Holland Lop but somehow the same thing happened. And it was so fast I could not believe it. It was horrible. I'm so sorry and I hope your little girl is ok.
