Cold-weather babywearing

Hi all! I have an 8 month old son, and we primarily use a Maya wrap with hip carry for babywearing lately. Now that it's getting chilly here in Michigan, I am wondering about how to handle babywearing in winter weather...what do those of you living in cold climes do with your little ones in the winter when you're out and about? For example, do you just carry your bundled LO from car to grocery store, then take off both of your coats and put them in the sling for walking around? Or do you wear your sling under your coat, sling the baby while you sit in the backseat and adjust once you get inside?

We also have a Babyhawk and a Moby wrap, although the Moby isn't seeing much use these days because it just doesn't feel supportive enough for his big 20-ish pounds.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think it's easier to leave them in whatever they are wearing in the car then put them in the carrier and put on a coat - for front carries an over sized coat covers the 2 of you - I did buy a baby wearing vest for back carries.
