Today while I was sitting at a MOPS meeting, my lower back got really achy. I haven't had any low backaches during pregnancy, so it was weird. After a minute or two I sat forward to see if it would help. Then the area below my belly down to my pubic bone started to hurt, a really tight, uncomfortable feeling. That lasted another couple of minutes before going away along with the backache. It hurt for longer than I would expect a contraction to last, but what was it?
It seems weird to have had a vaginal birth and not know what a contraction feels like! The only contractions I had were pitocin-induced, though, and I got my epi so early that I truly didn't experience enough of labor to be able to remember it.

When I look back on my other two, there were contractions that I had that I didn't know were contractions at the time. After birth I could look back and see that those were the same as what I ended up having in true labor. Real helpful hey?
