another "was this a contraction?" thread

Today while I was sitting at a MOPS meeting, my lower back got really achy. I haven't had any low backaches during pregnancy, so it was weird. After a minute or two I sat forward to see if it would help. Then the area below my belly down to my pubic bone started to hurt, a really tight, uncomfortable feeling. That lasted another couple of minutes before going away along with the backache. It hurt for longer than I would expect a contraction to last, but what was it?

It seems weird to have had a vaginal birth and not know what a contraction feels like! The only contractions I had were pitocin-induced, though, and I got my epi so early that I truly didn't experience enough of labor to be able to remember it.

IDK, but I've experienced the same thing for the past week. It will feel JUST like a contraction, and after a few I'll think its labor, but then it just goes away. What you described is pretty close to what I've been feeling.,

It seems to me that sometimes you don't really know until after you know you are in labor. When I look back on my other two, there were contractions that I had that I didn't know were contractions at the time. After birth I could look back and see that those were the same as what I ended up having in true labor. Real helpful hey?
