Well, today, I almost smoked my serger, and I did have to throw a bunch of
doubler innerds away because I made them too thick, and there was no way to fix it. Luckily, it was all upcycled materials. My serger is a work horse, but not quite like that!! I forgot. I have 25 flannel one size fitteds that I
have finished except for the closures (that are optional anyway) and the leg
elastic adjustments (which I only have to adjust for the toddler size for now).
I also had a lot of large and medium doublers that I got done for the white
thread diapers. Then, I also have 7 that I am keeping aside for a friend (that I
do need to do the closures and adjustments), as they are in perfect shape how I wanted them all to come out. These all have the white serger thread. I actually have 21 darker ones that have to be serged with black thread, that I found at Hobby Lobby today. I am glad I went, as I didn't realize that I didn't pick up any colored thread when I got all the white on sale at Joann's.
So, I am currently washing them without all the notions to see how they hold up. They should do fine, but I want the quilted motifs to stick out when I take
pics. So, I thought I would fluff them up before getting the closures done and
taking pictures. Hopefully, my phone camera will behave itself. The only problem is that I am not sure that I want to wash the ones I am giving to my friend (as testers really), because then they won't have that new feel to them. But, the quilting won't stand out nor will they be as soft. So, after I get mine done, I will see where we are at.
I don't have my covers made yet, but these are so cute, and there should be
enough soakers that I can just let DS run around with them coverless. And,
when I get his baby legs in, he can stay real warm. LOL I got all my girlie
ones, but not his. Since we are staying home mostly, because of the flu and
vaxing going around, this should be fun, and I can get back to CDing again. And, finally again with him. We stopped shortly after he started getting sick so much and in and out of the hosp.
Silly me was suppose to pick up my diaper pails today too, and I totally forgot. I will have to go get them first, really. I can't think of any good substitute. 25 should actually be a good start for him, as the baby isn't here yet, and I knew that I would need more than that for 2 babies. Well, I might not want to put the few pink ones I have, on him.
I also got my terry today, so that I can make my terry prefolds, and I will
embellish them with cute prints down the middle. I also planned to make them
into prefitteds, along with the used PFs I am hoping to get online from a diaper forum. Those are going to be newborn size, so those are obviously for the new baby.
So, anyway, after working this many hours on diapers, I am thrilled beyond
belief. I am washing them in a half load, because I don't want to overload my
washer, but I wish I could have done them all at once. So that is 32 diapers and almost double that many doublers, that I have serged in about 2 days.
I will add more pics to my Webshots as soon as I'm able. Kymberli
