to try to stay healthy? I am new into taking more then just a multivitamin, but my best friend set us up on some stuff and I want to get more info on if this is good to take and/or anything else I/we should be taking. Here is what we take and who takes it:
One a day Mens Health-dh
One a day Womens health-me
One a day teen girls-my almost 11 yo
Glucosamine HCI 1500 mg + MSM 1500 mg- me and dh
Chewable vit C, 500 mg-all of us
calcium (500mg)+D 400IU-me (asthma dr. recommended)
ultimate probiotic 12/12 formula -me, dh, and my oldest
Vitmamin D3 1,000 IU-me, dh, and my oldest
Primadophilus Kids 80 mg- my 2 youngest
Omega 3,6,9 1200 mg- me, dh, my oldest
Vitmamin D 400 IU Sunny Gummies- my 2 youngest

I need to get the little girls on a multivitamin and was thinking maybe a DHA suppliment

We try to get all of our nutrition from food and herbs, so we don't do any vitamins.

We do take a few supplements though because I consistently fail at getting them in with food:

Dh, self and two kids take:

Fermented Cod Liver Oil

Bio-Kult probiotic

Borage and Evening Primrose oil

I try to get probiotics by increasing our fermented foods, but because we are treating on the GAPS method I find it hard to meet the whole spectrum with foods for both probiotics and the essential oils. Treating DH and DS for ADD requires a very specific ratio of omega 3mega 6 that I can't find in a single supplement so we add the Borage and EPO to the Fermented CLO.

I don't routinely take anything. Like PP said, we try to have an excellent diet, and meet our needs that way. However, despite my best efforts, DS is stubbornly anemic (Hgb between 9 & 11.1), so he gets a chewable multi with iron. I give my DD one without iron b/c when he gets one, she wants it. He hates the liquid iron-only supplement, which is why we go multi.

Here's a great article i just read,
Just Say No to Synthetic Vitamins and Processed Foods

We do daily infusions of nourishing herbs such as nettle, raspberry leaf, oatstraw etc.

We also supplement Vitamin D b/c all of us tested super low and that one is huge for the immune system and very hard to get enough of through diet and sunlight alone.

And probiotics - I try to do those daily if we aren't able to get enough fermented foods etc.

Oh, and omega 3's - sometimes. It depends on what we are able to get in our diet. If we are fortunate enough to have access to lots of good food sources then I don't worry - but these are so crucial to growing brains, immune system etc. that I do supplement.

CLO-everyone.

Elderberry during the school year for kids and me.

I am trying a new whole foods version of an immune booster for the kids as well.
