Anyone already debating names with SO?

Thread Starter
Title says it all Anyone else all ready debating and talking about names? Seems to early, but geesh, I remember picking out names way before kids! Granted, I have yet to use a single one!

So far(as of today!), our name choices are

Boy: Cash or Milo
Girl: Mila or Maya..dh not too fond of those yet.

Like I said, really early and so many other things to think about, but it's always fun to chat about them I am sure we will change our minds a hundred times, but Cash is one that has stuck since dd #2!

We are always talking names, whether I'm pg or not. We have a girl's name picked out, first and middle, with several backup names. But I'm completely lost on boys' names. DS's name was on our long list, but not on the short list last time. I really hope this one is a girl so we don't have to choose a boy's name this time around.

We have a boy name that we decided on the last time I was pregnant (I m/c), but we'll wait for the 20 week ultrasound to see if we even need a girl name.

We haven't talked names because as Orthodox Jews, we try not to plan for the baby until the baby comes. We also believe that when the baby comes it has "Divine Spirit" that lets you know what name will be perfect for it. Since we also only name after family members who have passed away though, our name pool is somewhat limited. I know that whatever name I name the baby will be a traditional Hebrew name.

After 4 children DH and I are running out of names we love After each one we think we might not have anymore and use our other favorite name as a middle name lol

Not sure what we will name this one boy or girl

I haven't even thought about it yet, I think I may just wait until, you know, crowning. It took forever for us to come up with some names we both agreed on during my last pregnancy. We never did agree on a boy's name, so it was a good thing DD2 was a girl!

I've had names picked out since we got married

For a boy, I want to name him Joshua after DH, b/c (despite my earlier rant about how stupid he can be) he is the kindest, most loving, honest man I've ever known. When he was little, they called him Gentle Josh. DH likes it and wants his deceased dad's name Randall/Randy for the middle (which just happens to be the same name as my pot-head stepbrother's, which is only part of why I wouldn't agree to it as a first name).

For a girl, I love love Ramona, after my dearest friend who lives too far away. DH likes it well enough but he says it sounds wrong with our last name. I totally disagree, and think he's just prejudiced because he has a large family and no one has a name with a long O in it. I don't want to give our real last name, but it rhymes with phone, so put it together. Ramona Phone. I think it's just fine.

My other girl's name is a combo of our mother's names (Karen + Lynn). I'm debating on using Karalynn, or Lynn as a middle name or hyphenating it Kara-lynn. DH likes that name better, but I so long to hold a little Ramona in my arms. It just seems to fit what I sense my first girl is going to be like. And I am pretty sure we're going to be having a girl. I just feel it in my soul.

Here's our working list, in no particular order--

Boy:

Leo
Griffin
Owen
Atticus
Beckett
Desmond
Dashiell

Girl:

Katia
Genevieve
Tatiana
Aurora
Francesca
Lucia
Nadia
Camille/Camilla

I absolutely love Miranda for a girl, but DH refuses. I think Shakespeare and The Tempest; he thinks "You have the right to remain silent..."

H has basically left the naming up to me, God love him.

ginadc - we have similar taste in girls names! Katja, Nadia & Aurora were all on my lists in past pregnancies. (Tatiana wasn't, only because I used it on my beloved kitty back when I thought I would never have kids.) Then in my pregnancy with DS, my cousin adopted 3 kids and the girls were named Katja and Nadia, so I ended up with my daughters named Natalya and Kira.

We have our boy and girl name pretty much set. Andrew Noah and Abigail Rose. However, if we end up with boy/boy or girl/girl twins then we will need to do some more thinking.

DH and I picked out several girl and boy names that we like when I was PG with DS1. I think we did most of our debating then, so I already have a few names in the back of my mind. It'll be a long time before we know if we need the boy or girl names though....

It won't really be a debate here. I named DD1--Bridget--and DH chose the spelling. He named DD2--Catherine--and I chose the spelling.

So this time around it's my turn to choose the name, and he chooses the spelling. Regardless, I'll most likely get my way.

For a boy, I've had "Luke Robert" chosen since we got pregnant the first time around and have yet to get to use it. "Luke" for St. Luke, and "Robert" is DH's first name and was my late father's name.

A girl will most likely be "Magdalene Juliana". I just love the idea of having a Bridget, a Cate and a Maggie. It sounds so Irish (although we're not Irish).

I've been hounding my DH with names, and he always replies "I don't know, its too early!" But he should learn by now that if he waits too long I will already have my heart set on a name!

I've known all my children's names since before they were born. Andy, Sarah, Emma, and two who came with names from their birthmom. This one will be Daniel Martin if it's a boy. We'll call him Danny. The kids have been practicing Oh Danny Boy! for two pregnancies now, and we just had miscarriages.

Has to have an a sound on the end for a girl. Might be Camilla, or Amelia, or Cora or Anna. Clearly this one's not named yet if its a girl.

Kel32- Camilla or Camille is my favorite girl name right now

Sonja--those names are beautiful! I like Natalya/Natalia a lot but would feel a bit odd as it's my ex-BF's daughter's name. Not like we see him now, but still--you know how some associations just make a name not work?

We will probably wait to find out the gender before we really get into naming discussions. I have both a boy and girl name that I like - but I know DH doesn't love either one of them. I figure I have months to win him over!!!

We won't actually settle on a name until we see the baby. My first LO didn't have a name for 24 hours, and my second for about 10. This annoyed the hospital a bit, (and my in-laws a ton!!) but it worked for us.

Just remember... what ever you choose.... your poor little offspring is going to have to learn how to write a few short years from now.
I've been volunteering in my DS kindergarten and feel sorry for the kids with really long polysyllabic names and those that aren't spelled like they are pronounced. Kinda nixed me against picking something like "Aisling" (Pronounced more like Ashleen)
