UC Labour...

This is my first baby and I've been curious about UC for a while. I first started learning about it a few years ago while doing my doula training and stumbling on Laura Shanley's site. I am not sure if I will go for it with this birth or not...I'm about week away from 6 months pg. so just beginning to really consider my options. I guess I am just looking for support on following my instincts and feedback especially from people who had Uc for their first babies, or maybe were uncertain for a while. I am seeing midwives for my prenatal care and I'm pretty happy with it, though midwife or not next time I probably would say no to more of the tests. The midwives here are great but are new in town (practice not even open for a year) and newly graduated, they also have fairly strict guidelines governing them in my area and many phyisicians who are very conservative here who have put a lot of pressure on them...I noticed a different "tone" to my last appointment...I asked many questions and it seemed they were being so careful what they said (questions about my options if baby is breech, how often they monitor heartrate with doppler, postdates etc.) they even told me about the political pressures. I grew up in an area where the midwives weren't really regulated and so were more left to their own discretion...my friend had a breech home delivery and another was supported by a local midwife in her decision to uc. These would both be unheard of here. I also found out they use the doppler every fifteen minutes which seems like an awful lot to me...

... and hubby and I are considering at least waiting quite late till calling the midwives if we feel good and all is going well...and if baby is born then so be it... did any of you ahve this sort of flexible attitude?

I just want support...

Well, with my last birth, I had an option of going to the hospital or UC'ing. I've heard of plenty of moms who had a midwife and just didn't call, like I had an OB and didn't call or go in to the hospital when I went into labor. I think the technical UC term for it is, "oopsing."
