Okay, sounds odd, but my 10 year old german shepherd has had some odd things over the years, so I'm not particularly surprised that this thing is growing out of his tail. It's in the very end few inches (long tail) and the appearance was something like a 1.5" white-with-black-bits sesame stick snack. At first I thought, what the heck is it, an albino claw? I broke a portion off the end, initially thinking he got something stuck in his fur, but then when I cut the rest off, there was a bit of blood (and he didn't seem to care about it), and there is now a wart-like thing left on the tail. Now, he's an old guy and basically has a DNR of sorts as he also has addison's disease and that is pretty well managed, so I'm not about to run to the vet over it. This growth has to have occurred within the last month as he had a grooming appointment then and I haven't noticed anything until now either. A vet once mentioned bizarre GSD cysts that could be this thing--my memory of the conversation is vague.
Anyone seen this type of thing before? I had no luck on google, although I'm not sure what to search under as "corn chip growing out of my dog" probably won't come up with much
