technical ?'s on writing birth story

Thread Starter
Our 4th baby arrived in water on Monday, Oct. 5. He was 10 lbs 13 oz, 21 inches long and a 15 inch head- no tearing! This was our second uc, 3rd homebirth. It was a beautiful birth and I've been preparing the birth story to share with everyone onlince and also friends and family.

I have a few questions though... I want to just include a link to his birth story on his announcements I'm mailing out but I'm writing the birth story on babiesonline.com and the link is super long. Does anyone know how to do the tinyurl thing or some other means of making the link less complicated? I've never done it before.

My other "computerish" question is about putting links within the birth story. I wanted to include a link to our first uc and also to lotus birth and I've read a lot of birth stories that read, "you can find more info on that here" and "here" is highlighted in blue. As soon as you click on it it takes you right where you need to go. How do you do that???

Last question... I initially wrote our first uc birthstory for his birth announcements at babiesonline.com as well, but now that I've registered this 4th baby there, the site is not allowing me to register another child there also. Are there other free sites that I could post the birth story to so that I can reference it in this current birth story? That birth was a solo uc (my husband and children were present for this last one) and I love sharing it whenever I can.

Thanks for all/any help with my technical insufficiencies. Look for Cannon's birth story here shortly!

Blessings,
Nicole

Sorry I can't help with the technical stuff.

Congrats! if you want to link to another page with a word for a link, it is called a hyperlink.

About babiesonline, I have no idea. It is a bit weird that you can't add another child though!

Hi love4acr,
Wow, how exciting!
Looking forward to hearing more... If you want to link to another website you could use this HTML method:
Quote:
1. Please visit this website for my story:
<a href="http://www.babiesonline.com/the-rest-of-the-url">http://www.babiesonline.com/the-rest-of-the-url</a>

2. You can find my story <a href="http://www.babiesonline.com/the-rest-of-the-url">here</a>.
Here's what it would look like:
1. Please visit this website for my story: http://www.babiesonline.com/the-rest-of-the-url

2. You can find my story here.

Use the second one if you don't want to display a really long url.

HTML coding can be used here on the forum, in emails and on websites. Some other forums may require a box to be checked indicating that you want your HTML code displayed.

Regarding your last question: Natural Birth And Baby Care.Com are accepting stories.

Hope this helps...

Here's how I make a link with a word in blue here on this forum:

Copy (by rightclicking) whatever the actual long link is to your birth story.

Then write your sentence where you want to include a link. Maybe it's: You can read more here.

Now, highlight by left-clicking and dragging, in the usual manner, whichever word(s) you want to use as your link.

While that word is sitting there highlighted, look at the top of your post and click on the little blue earth w/ a chainlink. It will open a little popup window, where you will then paste that link that you copied in your first step.

Then your sentence will include the link and your word in the way that Ella-6 posted above.
