Okay, so I've read that diaper creams with fish oil are bad for cd's. So tell me what kinds are good to use. Obviously, I can look at ingredients, but I thought I'd ask anyway, plus I don't know if ingredients always say "fish oil" or if like so many other ingredients, there are 20 names I need to watch out for.

Are there any at natural stores that I should avoid or that people would highly recommend for their efficacy? How about at "regular" stores - Target, grocery stores, etc? I used Desitin or Vitamin A&D ointment with ds in his sposies - I'm guessing these aren't going to work this time.

I looked at Target for rash creams that DID contain zinc oxide but did NOT contain fish oil, bought a tube of Balmex, and used maybe one-eighth of it during dd's diapering years, with cotton diapers of course.

So I WANT zinc oxide, right?

Also, ds had a little bit of eczema on his bottom or upper, inner thigh area as he got older. I tried natural creams made for eczema and whatnot, but those always irritated him. The only thing that has ever worked for him that he doesn't mind is Aquaphor ointment. I'm guessing this is a no-no because it's so oily. I'm hoping Baby doesn't have to deal with the same issue, but if she does, I'm thinking Balmex might be irritating (tried rash creams on ds, also, and they just burned). Would others just suggest similar creams to those for diaper rash, or is there something even more emolient that is cd safe that I could use, if the case arose?

I read that zinc oxide is the most effective against diaper rash, so that's why I chose a zinc oxide cream. Some people don't believe in it, though.

I don't know anything about eczema treatment. Could you put disposable liners in your diapers if you needed to use something unsafe?

I totally second this! My son had an awful diaper rash that Burt's Bee's Diaper cream cleared up in 24 hrs. It takes only a tiny amount to protect his whole bottom and it doesn't affect my cloth diapers.

I am using the Target brand that equates to something with zinc oxide, and it is NOT working well. If it gets on anything, it doesn't seem to wash out. So the California Baby and Burts Bees creams are ok on pocket dipes? Or are they only ok on natural fibers? (It's a serious question for me right now b/c DS is suffering from a horrible rash---he has had a poopy diaper EVERY time I change him (and that's like 8 times a day, for a 10-mo old).

I know California Baby is supposed to be good for cloth diapers, it works for me. Although, I use natural fiber diapers so I'm not too sure about pockets, but I've heard it does. I know Pittsburgh Diaper site sells really good diaper cream that works with pockets.
