start? My son is 2 and a half. I'm just curious. He's the only intact kid in our family so I have no one to ask. I don't see any signs that it's started for him yet.

It can happen anytime between about 2 and puberty there is no fixed time table.

Our ped said anything between ages 4 and 15 is average.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says it may take until the end of puberty, this is perfectly normal, and it should never be rushed. the AVERAGE age of retraction is 10. Just make your pediatrician is aware of this, and never attempts to retract during a routine exam - your son will figure it out on his own.

Everytime he sees a doctor I remind them not to retract.

I was 12. Your two year old is perfectly normal. Don't let anybody forcefully retract him, he'll do it on his own eventually

My husband tells me he was about 11 but he had a friend who found it uncomfortable at 15 - he was told to wait a couple more years before it was considered a problem. So im guessing that anytime before late teens would be fine?
my son is in a phase where he is constantly pulling on it (hes 2 lol) and he seems ot be able to pull back his foreskin fine to a certain point and has never had any kind of pain, swelling etc - he did once have a little redness on the end of it but didnt seem to bother him at all and i alwasy thought it was just nappy soreness
