prodromal labor

Well, for over a week now I have had constant cramping, back ache, BH contractions, hunks of my mucus plug coming out. . .etc. . And now the last 2 days nothing! Seriously??? My body is really messing with my mind.
My mom never had any signs of anything before actual labor started. Like no BH, no cramping NOTHING before labor so she is totally no help when I ask questions.
Does all this prodromal labor stuff help move things along and make for shorter labors? Or does it have nothing to do with that? Cause after a week of what I had last week Im not sure I can handle a freaking long labor too. Just curious what your experience has been if you've had this before for weeks what your outcome as far as actual labor has been.

Hang in there sweetie, this is such a hard stage. I was in quite bad prodromal labor for about 2 weeks before #2 came... the last week was really bad.. and the last 3 or 4 days I couldnt' believe I wasn't in labor.

My midwife told me that mine was due to my LO being posterior and that he was trying to get in to position.

Here's my birth story http://www.mothering.com/discussions...ighlight=tamas if you're interested (nothing bad!)

Hang in there, I know the end drags on and on, but it'll be over soon and you'll be cuddling your new baby before you know it

I had lots of prodromal labor with my first, and a long labor, and lots of prodromal labor with my newest, and had my fastest by a long shot. I think the anticipation is the hardest part. It is doing something, so don't get discouraged.

I have had prodromal with each pregnancy. I'm still waiting to find out if it makes for a fast active phase. I have yet to go into labor on my own.

Big hugs. It's so hard dealing with prodromal. Just know your body is getting ready and it won't be forever *hugs*

I feel you, I have been cramping, backaching and contracting for a week now. I keep wondering is this it, am I going into labor. I finally told myself this afternoon, I am ready to give birth.

I know what you're going through! I've been cramping, low backache, contracting, losing mucus bits, increasing pressure, and even a tiny bit of bloody show for so long now!

It is NOTHING like my first pregnancy where I had nothing at all happen (no BHs at all) until my water broke without warning at 37 + 5.

This time I have been constantly thinking "this is IT!" until I finally decided that I'll probably be waiting until Halloween so I might as well just ignore it all until the contractions are completely timeable and intense. I think that staying mentally and physically busy is a huge help so that you're not focused on every little change. Unfortunately, my October calendar is wide open b/c I was so sure that baby would be here early.

Anyways, hang in there, it can't be TOO much longer now.
