Timing matters for pumped bm

the first article was a little short on facts! the second one was much better, and shines a light on one more aspect of how awesome BM is

however, i'd read about this on another forum and there was some disagreement over whether this helped or hindered the bfing cause. for moms who feed their LOs frozen milk, the logistics of this would be difficult. in addition, a lot of moms who WOH pump frequently throughout the day in order to leave enough milk for their LOs. personally, i mix together the milk i've pumped at work each day to make sure there's no foremilk/hindmilk imbalance because i have OS. i think some of the discord was due to the quote
Quote:
“It is a mistake for the mother to express the milk at a certain time and then store it and feed it to the baby at a different time”, points out the researcher.
that's pretty strong language for women who are working tirelessly to make sure their LOs are exclusively breast-fed.

Definatly agree with that being strong language. I didnt think about it causing issues with a pumping mom glad you pointed that out.

I am sure it could be worked around by pumping at night so that they could have the pumped milk at night but I am sure that mom's who spend their day pumping the last thing they want to do is pump at home as well.

Interesting. Bm is awesome. I would have preferred some slightly different language though.

I'll consider marking the order of my bottles when I pump and go back to work.

that's so true! i don't even bring my pump home during the week. i leave it at work. i would much rather he get the milk straight from the tap every time, though of course during the work week i can't be 2 places at once. but at least in our case, he gets the milk i pump at work the very next day, so timing-wise we're doing OK
