? For experienced Fuzzi Bunz mommas

I am pretty new to cloth diapers and I bought six used small fuzzi bunz and six used sposoeasy. I had a hard time getting the sposoeasy to fit well but really liked the fuzzi bunz. Went ahead and bought six new ones and realized that they were a little different. Seems like the ones I bought used were the old style and they have "nurtured family" inserts. The new ones don't seem to fit my 9w infant as well and the inserts are HUGE! The elastic is very tight in the back but if I loosen them I get the occasional leak. I keep reaching for the used with the smaller inserts. No leaks with either way, they just fit better. I also bought some extra FB inserts but bought three ply instead of four ply by mistake. I like them better then the bigger ones.

So, do the OS and NS have very different fits or is it mostly an issue of the huge inserts and/or older elastic?

Is the fit likely to change over time or should I seek out more used?

The washing has been easy thus far and I want to keep the stinks away. We live in an apartment and bought a small portable washer that seems to be working well. Using Charlie's Soap. Doing a hot and heavy complete wash with soap. Then doing a cold regular complete wash without soap. I have to manually restart and change the temperature and I do have the option to do just rinses. Air drying.

Should I do just a second rinse? I just read that a hot rinse is actually better. Should I switch to hot all around?

Should I strip before I get stinkies, i.e the occasional dawn rinse? If so, how often?

Thanks.

Your washing routine sounds fine to me. It sounds like you're getting the diapers clean with the first wash and rinsed with the second, which is the important part. I know that the fit of old and new style Fuzzi Bunz is very different, but I don't know the details.

Big time FB users here
It sounds to me like the issue is the inserts and not the pockets. Have you tried stuffing with something else other than the inserts they came with? Microfiber towels for instance? Maybe prefolds? You'll probably have to experiment a little to get it to work the best for your child's shape.

I heart Fuzzi Bunz - and I totally agree that the old style seems to fit better! I think it has something to do with the cut, but also that the elastic has a lot more give. Once they are broken in, they will fit better. And I like to use some hemp terry inserts instead of the huge bulky ones they come with. I don't remember what brand the inserts are, sorry. Good luck!

my dd used meds in the old style and then when she outgrew them i bought some large in the new and HATED them. not sure if it was just the size difference, but they were pricey and i tried so hard to love them. i also felt the elastic wore out SUPER fast on the new style and i hardly even used them....

i would definitely see about getting some more used old style....

oh and how about trying some nb pfs tri folded as inserts while the babe is still small??
