Trying to wean myself off the boards

Yesterday I washed the prefolds and Bummis and folded them and put them on the shelf above the changing table, and I put the Fuzzi Bunz in the diaper stacker (haven't washed them yet). Then I sat on dd's bed and stared at all the diapers. Four dozen diapers, 75% old school and 25% modern.

The reasons I haven't joined the 100% modern age and just gone all Fuzzi Bunz are three: One, pocket diapers are expensive (although less expensive than disposables so I guess if you were going to use disposables, this is less of a problem). Two, pocket diapers don't breathe (but disposables don't breathe either so again, if you were going to use disposables, this is less of a problem). Three, I'm worried about the stay-dry liner retaining odors, especially since I have a front loader. I guess I'm just going to hope that doesn't happen.

Dh's stepmother loves the Fuzzi Bunz and says she wants us to bring them with us when we bring the baby to visit her.

In the meantime, I have enough prefolds to use them exclusively and not worry about cost, breathability or laundry problems at all. I mostly only have Velcro covers though, and I would like some snap ones too. I guess I shouldn't obsess about it, though, if I really want to stay out of the online diapering world!

I know what you mean. I, too, have enough diapers. I have everything I need. And mine, too, are mostly old school. I use pf's with thirsties covers, bummis nylon pull-on's, and some wool. I have some Fuzzi Bunz, but I don't like them and just decided to donate them to an orphanage in Haiti (a friend of mine works/lives there). And although I have enough diapers and covers to go 3 or 4 days between washing (I don't go that long, but I could), I still want more. I look online at all the adorable diapering things and I try to justify ordering more. Why are they so freakin' cute and addictive!?!?

I just got into a confrontation with some women at Target who overheard me telling dh I wanted to buy Oxiclean Baby because it's better for diapers than regular Oxiclean. They told me using cloth diapers means I have a lot of patience and no life. I told them I have too much of a life and too little patience to go to the store all the time and buy diapers and take out the trash all the time (I wish I had also said I have better things to do with my time than work extra hours to pay for throwaways). They took it well and congratulated me, but sheesh.

Wow. People who don't cd are clueless. It's pretty easy as long as you have everything you need. How can they say you have no life? Don't they wash their clothes? What's an extra load? And what's cuter than a fluffy baby butt?!
