flaky skin on dog

We are just getting over fleas at our house. We've never had a problem before until this fall, and all of a sudden, the dog had fleas out of nowhere. We have been doing lots of vacuuming, Borax and salt on the carpets, Kleen Green, washing the dog with Dawn, and more. It is all working, it's just time-intensive and taking longer than using the chemicals.

However, my dog now has really flaky skin, I mean it is just flaking everywhere. He's a labradoodle. He's also still itching some, despite not seeing any signs of fleas or flea dirt on him. The flaky stuff just seems really icky, like it's just getting all over my house. He doesn't seem uncomfortable y itchy, just teh occasional itch, so it;s not a comfort issue for the dog.

Do you think this is just from the frequent baths? It's not like we bathed him every day, more like once a week, if that even. Took him to the groomers this week and she used something with shea butter in it even, but it didn't seem to help.

Also, his coat seems sort of "oily" when you touch it. It's not really oily, hard to describe, but after you pet him, you just feel this like, film, on your hands.

I would bet that it's from frequent baths. Especially if you used Dawn soap - that stuff strips oils from everything, including your dog's skin. How about getting some fish oil capsules to give him? It helps with skin issues by moisturizing from the inside out and you can use the regular people stuff you get in any pharmacy. One 1000 mg capsule per 30 lbs of weight - start slow though to avoid loose stools.
