I guess it varies depending on kids, but my kids are kids until they're 10+.

8 year olds aren't pre-teen, but sometimes they act like they are... so it's good to get advice from the BTDT perspective. I'd give the advice that if it's a "here and now" question, post it in childhood years, and if it's a "where's this heading?" question, post it in Pre-teen and teen.

It's so nice to read notes from parents who are enjoying their kids. My 15 year old is a delight. She was a lovely child, but she's even better on the cusp of being an adult.

I was just reading yesterday that puberty can occur anywhere between 8 and 17, though for most kids it's between 10 and 14.

What stage a child is at a any age is determined by many factors: their own biology, their birth order, their personality, etc.
