how do i get him to sleep past 5 am???

DS (6 mo) is an early riser. I thought it would get better with the darker mornings but it has only gotten worse. He goes to bed rather early (7:30 or 8pm) and sleeps fairly well throughout the night which I really appreciate. However, these early mornings are tough on me. Anyone have any tips on how to get these little ones to sleep in longer...does it work to push bedtime later? I'd be so nice to just make it to 6 am...is that possible or am I dreaming?

How much does he sleep/nap during the day? Tyr has always gone to bed with us at night (not until about 11p or 12a) He then sleeps until anywhere from 730-930 depending if he napped the day before.

don't think you can. sorry. we have an early riser too, and he wakes frequently through the night as well... not getting sleep sucks.

You could try moving bed time back a tiny bit each night - just by five or ten minutes - and see if that helps.

I also have an early riser. I've tried later bedtimes, earlier bedtimes, any suggestions anyone has given me and have determined that my 2.5 yo DS is just an early riser.

My son is 3 months and I wish I knew. We start waking up at 5 and are usually in full awake mode around 6:30. I try so hard to get him to sleep longer, but it just doesn't work. I'm lucky if I get to sleep till 7:30.

I can't eliminate naps for him because he gets tired and fussy and he's only 3 months. I'm working on keeping him up till 7:00pm right now.

Wish I knew. Charlie (18 months) starts waking up at 5 AM no matter what time he goes to bed the night before, anywhere from 7-8:30 (at the absolute latest). I'm freaking because I know the time change is coming, and can't bear the idea of being awake for the day at 4 AM. I always tell him that Mommy doesn't talk too much until the clock says "6" and that I'm resting, and we end up nursing until then. I think he's just programmed to poop pretty early in the AM and it wakes him up.
