I went to the mall today with my 3-year-old and 6-week old for the first time... against my better judgement, LOL! We stopped to have a snack at Starbucks because my older son was begging for one, and my younger son was crying so I needed to feed him. I was wearing him in a short wrap, rebozo-style (pouch), upright tummy-to-tummy. He was sucking on my shirt in various places on my upper chest and arm, trying desperately to latch on.
Another mama that was just leaving with her baby, noticed Caleb sucking all over my shirt, said something like, "aww, but I'm SO close mommy!" She knew he was trying to nurse and was trying to find the right spot... and wasn't grossed out by it! She also assumed that he was breastfed. I know it was a small comment, but it was refreshing to feel like breastfeeding was the norm!
