two at a time socks?

What is your favourite method of knitting socks two at a time? And do you feel it is worth learning a new technique? TIA.

I do two at a time, toe-up, on Magic Loop. My first socks were traditional--top down on dpns--and I hated every minute. Just could not understand why people were so into knitting socks...Magic Loop works much better for me, and I find that toe-up is easier on Magic Loop than top-down. From there it's just a short leap to two at a time, which I always do now unless the pattern is a particularly tricky lace or cable or whatever.

How do you manage your yarn, KM? Do you split it into two balls or ????

Friendtoall, I don't. And I should- though in my defence, I am not a sock knitter. You should, too.

You're right - I should have figured this out before now. But, I've never had an issue with doing one at a time until I started Cat Bordhi's "New Pathways for Sock Knitters" and started my first ever toe up sock. It just isn't flowing for me and I'm afraid not only might I not finish the pair, I might not finish the first.

I got Melissa Morgan-Oakes book, 2-at-a time socks, from the library but her method just didn't look like it would make me happy. I checked out Cat's method on YouTube, and liked it better, but it is back to knitting one sock at a time. So, I think when I get a chance, I'll pick up some wool (like I need more) and try double knitting two socks at a time on dpns. I'll make some for my son - he has the smallest feet in the house and will work up the fastest.

I do two at a time on two circs! Love it. I tried ML'ing but I just found it too fiddly.

Well, I usually just pull from the outside of the ball for one sock and from the middle of the ball for the other sock. I keep the ball of yarn in a ziploc bag and I cut a tiny hole in each corner of the bag to run the yarn through. Every once in a while, I just stop and make sure nothing's getting twisted up.
