If that's the case, then the doctor can start paying for the visits. If a patient is paying for a service then they ought to get what they are paying for and none of "fancy" extras that are pushed (forced?) on a person once they are held hostage in the exam room.

Paying a doctor for a service should not be any different than hiring a mechanic, contractor, etc. If it is not what you are paying for then either complain or fire them.

Yes, yes it does. You are an expert in your own parts and labor. I bet you do your own lube job too :^)

Who does this guy think he is?

I had my OB almost say the same thing regarding my "experience".

"So, you have delivered NINE babies? That makes you more of an expert than me, who has delivered over 3,000?"

Me: "Over my body? Yes."

I don't think she liked my answer!

OP, I'm so sorry! That sounds awful. (and sorry I haven't called you back!! wow, that was a while ago!) I'm so glad that you found the midwife but I'd say you need to run away from that OB and never go back. Are there any ultrasound boutique places in the area that you could go and get a US to see the baby, because you can make the judgement if the babe has all the parts without an expert? Because those boutique places typically will report any abnormalities and refer to diagnostic testing if they see something up. I think those places are cheaper too, and you won't hear the US tech trying to scare or belittle you.
