Soup from the fridge?

I'm having supply issues and my MW recommended barley soup. It wasn't on the meal plan this week, so it's a matter of using what I have. I'm not big on soups, but for the LO, I'll eat just about anything.

I have almost 1/2 gallon of rich chk stock, chard, beet greens, onion, garlic, potato, baby carrots, tomato, beets, bok choy, rosemary, thyme

Of that, what would work in a barley soup? I've never made it before.

Personally, I'd do the chard, carrots, lots of onions, and while normally I'd throw in potatoes to stretch it, since it is supposed to be a barley soup, I'd just do a lot of barley. (if you have chicken bits, I'd throw that in.) I'd saute all of it, including the thinly sliced chard stems and the sliced leaves (the leaves take less time than the carrots) then throw the veggies into the soup last minute.

(Admitedly, normally I'd make that soup with kale, but I find kale and chard to be somewhat interchangable.)

Oats are meant to help boost supply too...and teas like alfalfa, nettle, fennel, blessed thistle.

Hope it picks up soon and I know it's hard but try not to worry about it too much as that will just make it worse, and just offer breast VERY regularly.

I just wanted to add that Thyme can decrease supply. The amount you would probably use to flavor a soup shouldn't make any difference, but when the LO is hungry every ounce matters, right? Sage, oregano, parsley, and just in case you feel like making tea, peppermint, spearmint, and lemon balm all decrease supply in significant amounts.
I think I will try some Barley soup too! Lately it seems like there are a few days DD can't get enough... every four weeks

Thyme and parsley? That might explain it... I made lamb cutlets on Saturday with lots of both. I knew about sage, but had no idea about thyme and parsley. <sigh>

Okay - off to make some soup.

Don't like soup? Make barley pudding. Make it exactly as you would make rice pudding, just with barley!!! I loved it before I went grain free.

I can share my recipe if you need one.
