Just curious how everyone will feed their babies...

I voted yes. I bf my prem baby til she was 5 months and ds til he was just over 1. Love it so much! Great for baby and me!

Yep. I nursed ds until just a couple weeks before I became pregnant again. He was 23 months when he baby-led weaned!

In fact, I'll be tandem nursing unless DS (21 mos) weans by then, but that's not likely.

I voted yes. My DD, 28 moths, just weaned and I'm relieved, since I don't thing tandem nursing is for me (though I do support those mamas who want to do it!).

I figured most of us would probably be nursing. I'm still nursing my 2 year old, but she'll probably wean in the next 6 months...she's down to about 5 times a day. I'm looking forward to nursing the new baby and actually knowing what to do this time!

I'm assuming that I'll be exclusively nursing the LO. My DD nursed until 22 months, when we had to abruptly wean b/c of a medical issue, but I loved the experience. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to have to make bottles in the middle of the night, with a screaming newborn, and little to no sleep. (<--- shivers at the thought)

That being said, I hope that any mamas reading don't feel like they can't share if they don't plan to. I know there seems to be a lot of societal pressure these days to breastfeed, and for some reason, parenting choices seem to have become very competitive. I think that you absolutely have to do what is right for your family. Breastfeeding can be very hard, and if you aren't commited to it, it won't necessarily create all the good emotional benefits to the baby.

I BF'd my DS until 6 months and it was a struggle.every.single.day. I thought he self-weaned at that point but looking back, it was a nursing strike stemming from the bf'ing mistakes I made. It was such a struggle just to make it that far - I can't even imagine how miserable I would have been if my heart wasn't in it.

I guess my long, rambly point is that I hope that all mamas feel comfortable sharing in our DDC, regardless of the "popularity" of their choices.

(and FWIW, my choice to BF is extremely unpopular in my area)

I had a pretty extensive breast reduction and though I'll read the books and see if it's possible, I don't think it's going to work out so I'm going to plan to bottlefeed and be pleasatly surprised if I can breast feed.

This will be my first and I am looking forward to the bond created while breastfeeding.

I had to wean DD at 7 months due to a medical issue, so YES!! i am going tobreastfeed again, and hopefully this time i can keep my thyroid sufficiently cntrolled and happy so that i don't have a crisis and lose my milk again I am really looking forward to a bit of a "do-over" on this front.

I'll definitely do my best to breastfeed for at least the first year. I'm really looking forward to the experience!

Me! I bf both my kids until age 2, and look forward to doing the same this time around (I still can't really get my mind around #3!)

Yes. DS weaned a little over 4, 39 month old DD1 is almost weaned and 14 month old DD2 is still nursing very frequently.

Yes for me! I love nursing my babies I might be tandem nursing if H decides to keep going. I nursed my first baby just shy of 2 years so I'm hoping that H will keep going until this new baby is born. We'll see.

I breastfed DS for two years. I plan on extended breastfeeding for #2 as well.

Definitely Yes for me. I was only able to nurse my oldest for a few months and my youngest for just under a year, but I want to aim for atleast 2 years with this one. Lets hope that not having to go back to work will help.

I will be exclusively nursing until late August, and then will start introducing a bottle for pumped milk (I will go back to work then).

Last time my supply dipped drastically when AF returned at 11 weeks pp. DS ended up being FTT so we had to supplement with donor breastmilk. We did that until 6-7 months, when we started him on solids and I was able to make enough milk for him again. We are still nursing at almost 22 months, though I plan on weaning him before the birth because I have huge doubts about my ability to make enough milk for two when I couldn't even make enough for one. I definitely intend on nursing this time and am hoping I will be able to feed this new babe my breastmilk exclusively.

I assume so, but I've been browsing the site and reading the threads by the new nursers, and they've scared the $&!# out of me. I guess it's true that waking up slightly to nurse in a warm bed seems infinitely more tolerable than having to get up, shamble to the kitchen and heat a bottle, but still, some of the descriptions over there of the first few weeks are hair-raising. My nipples almost inverted out of sheer terror.

Assuming nothing horrible happens to prevent me, I will be nursing. I have tons of support from my family and friends and every woman on my side of my family nursed their babies (with the exception of my grandmothers...but that was a generational thing).
