Is anyone going to give/ giving their baby

A vitamin D supplement? I never did with my other 3 but my doctor suggested it because of recent research. I am not totally convinced it is necessary but haven't really looked into it too much.

Not in your DDC but I take extra while nursing and I also give a supplement to the baby. I haven't seen the Vit D supplement alone so the one I have is an A and D combo.
I think most of the current research supports the need for it.

I've increased my supplementation and hope that will be enough. I'll ask our family doc about it once the babe arrives, but I'm reluctant to supplement the baby unless absolutely necessary.

I am, because I was low while pregnant and had to supplement myself. Also, because of where we live, lots of kids end up with Vit D deficiencies.

No. My vitamin D level is sky high. Too high. I was all set to supplement myself based on recent research. Um, that would not have been a good idea, to say the least.

we give her regular vits and vit d drops. i am also taking about 5000 IU vit d daily and she is getting my breastmilk both fresh and pumped. then we are also supplementing her bottles with high calorie/vitamin formula. she has had some signs of osteopenia so we have to continue supplementing her. i was totally against it in the beginning but i did my research and now i know it's for the best for her.

My vitmin D levels have been low so I supplement myself at 5000 IU's a day and get my levels checked frequently. My endocrinologist said that because I'm supplementing and breastfeeding that the baby doesn't need seperate supplementation.

Man, firewoman, I am SO glad you suggested getting Vit D checked. I would have supplemented myself and I am WAY too high as it is. THey want me retested in 6 weeks, in fact, to see where the number is then.

At least my kid's pediatrician thought my levels were good news. I have NO idea why my levels would be so high.
