So, I was picking up DH today and was so excited to hear that they would be talking about Sweden celebrating it's 30 years of banning corporal punishment in the home and in schools. They interview this woman from Sweden.... and honestly... it didn't really make the points I would have liked... and then they go to "their Moms" who both say that there's nothing wrong with spanking occasionally. The Moms claim that research shows that being abusive/spanking is just as non nurturing as not spanking at all. What really fried me was that they equated not-spanking with being totally permissive. And there was NO alternative view! I was so annoyed.
Did anybody else hear the show? I missed if anything else was said 'cause I had to leave the car.
It seems like they could have done a better job and representing all views because there is plenty of research out there that shows just how harmful spanking is.
