With my midwife I go to her office for the second trimester and she comes to my house for the third trimester appts.

Very excited to be having our second homebirth!!

We're in NM and ours costs about $3200 I think. I try not to focus on it, because for me, it's well worth it. I'm terrified of hospital birth. We used a FSA last time and in addition got quite a bit back (we can't remember how much though).

I have friends who used medicaid and got the entire thing free....

sorry, thought about spelling that out, but since I don't understand a million acronyms, I just thought I was the only one....heehee

FSA is a flexible spending account--you set aside an amount of money at the beginning of a fiscal cycle of your paycheck--usually you MUST spend this or you'll loose it--and this money is taxed like your insurance. People use it for childcare, or cosmetic surgeries or other procedures that aren't covered by insurance.

That's how we are, too. She only has office hours on Wednesdays but when it comes to the time where she comes to us, I think we just figure out what day is best. Most of her clients are pretty close to her anyway, since they get to her by horse and buggy.

She also has a lot things available for sale at her place. I enjoy being able to look through it all and talk to the other moms.

Home!!!

I had pre-eclampsia with my first son and had a necessarily very intervention birth in hospital. I was induced 3 times over a period of 7 days, instead of being sectioned after the first try...so it was very good for what it was and did end up being vaginal. It was however completely different then my planned hb...much more like the opening scene from the Meaning of Life.

So, facing only a 10% chance of reoccurance I am going with the I AM TOTALLY HAVING MY NORMAL BIRTH IN MY HOME attitude!

We are!

My first two were born in a fsbc, but it was an hour and a half drive and I just honestly don't want to do that in labor again when I can just stay home. We had a loss back in August, so this will be baby number 4 and our first homebirth. I'm a birth doula, so I've attended them, and that makes me even more excited to have one myself! We have one more interview next week and then we will decide which mw to go with. We did get to hear a heartbeat at our last interview which was so special because with my 3rd pregnancy, the baby passed before we could hear one....I broke down crying when I heard that little gallop last week.

My second son was a waterbirth which I LOVED, so we are planning one this time as well. We want a very hands off birth - DH caught last time and it was so special, so we really just want a lifeguard in the corner.
