Celiac, BFing and intro to foods

I'm not sure if this is the best board to post this to, so please let me know if I should go to another board.

Celiac runs in my family and I've started researching to try to determine how best to expose my Ds (now 4 mo) to gluten containing foods to hopefully decrease his chances of developing Celiac or gluten sensitivity. I definately am senstivie and have removed all gluten from my diet. Ds is EBF and not on any solids yet. He was only exposed to gluten during my pregnancy. I've been GF since January--6 months before he was born, and continue to be gluten free.

I'd appreciate hearing others' experiences about BFing, gluten introduction and concern over Celiac.

Thanks!

I'm wondering this, too. My dad and brother have celiac (and DH's family has a ton of food allergies as well). DD is almost 7 months old, and so far has only had breastmilk. My mom asked for me on her celiac yahoo group, and the responses were so varied that it started a fight!

All this to say, I hope someone else knows the answer!

Some research shows that there's a good window to intro gluten--right around 6ish months. Thing is, there's no guarantee that the genes won't be triggered/activated later in life.

I have celiac disease *and* a wheat allergy. (I'm just lucky.)

DS will be GF until he's old enough to clean up after himself. We don't have gluten in the house for the most part (DH has some oatmeal). Toddlers are little crumb factories. I have reactions while visiting friends and I just can't risk it in my safe space. Kiddo doesn't need gluten to thrive. He gets plenty of tasty stuff.
