Help me choose a diaper!

I'm not sure it's possible to fit all my needs, but let's see
We are expecting baby #2 in Feb. and my DD is not even close to potty training. So, of course, I'm thinking one-size would be best because I don't want to spend a bunch on large dipes AND smalls. I have a couple friends lending me a newborn stash, so I'm not worried about that part.

Here is what makes it difficult-
My DD is already 34 lbs. She is about 37 inches tall, and wears 3T/4T clothes. We found out, in our brief attempt at cloth when she was younger, that she only did well with fleece lining.
I know that all the OS dipes I see say they only go up to 35 lbs. Am I kidding myself thinking that she can wear them? Any that you have that fit your tall toddler?

Thanks for your help! I just got a large $ gift and want to spend it wisely!

Have you tried prefolds? That is what i have stuck with over the 3 years of CDing. And its cheap.

Im not sure about OS, i had BGs but they seemed like they would be outgrown by 12 months.

Fuzzy buns are GREAT diapers, maybe a few pockets in each size and then some prefolds?

I had one size pocket diapers wonderoos with my DD and she totoally out grew them by 2.5 years. and like 25lbs... I alos CD my DD for quite a log time cause she was such a late trainer at the end shes was over 35lbs and wearing 5t clothing... By this time I was really almost having to eaither do toddler prefolds or special order stuff. Motherease toddler ease worked okay as well. Something to consider though how old is your oldest? We simpily didin't need a huge stash of diapers for her after a certain age. Honestly 12 was plenty. You may want to consider getting a simple stash of something for your oldest and then maybe some one size pockets for the baby to grow into chances are your baby one day will need the bigger size as well.

BTW you can just line a prefold with a fleece liner if you need.

We stopped CDing b/c of prefolds. DD has a lot of skin problems and just couldn't handle having the moisture against her skin. Really, fleece lining was the only thing that worked for us. We just couldn't afford to spend more upfront at the time for CD's.

Okay, I feel dumb for not thinking about just buying liners! But I swear if there was one more step my DH was going to kill me, lol.
DD is going to be 3 in January and really varies how many dipes she needs per day. I could probably need 18 to feel comfortable.

Could you do suade cloth? IF so there are things like these http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_...roducts_id=736 you just slide a prefold inside and then can lay this dirrectly into a cover they can fit both an infant and an older child. You can have some pre loaded for DH easily.. (so understand the DH issue )

suedecloth didn't work for us, but those looked cool!

Hmmm...DH is not going to go for dipes that are like $20 a pop. But I can probably spend about $250 on a stash.

Okay, I feel stupid, but what are prefitteds?
If you like the idea of the suade cloth socks ask around even if you have no sewing skills I'd bet someone could make some for you. I know I had someone make me some fleece ones years ago...
Prefittted are like a cross between a prefold and a fitted like this http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/prefoldfitted.htm there often with out a closure but ones can be added.
The $250 is that for both little ones or jsut one? 12 bumgenius alone will run you $200...

It's highly unlikely a one-size diaper will fit a kid as big as yours, unfortunately. I would probably buy larges and hope your second kid also gets that big so you can use them twice.

Maybe try this http://diaperpages.com/pockets.php as an inexpensive solution to the fleece problem. I don't sew, but I think even I could probably handle one of these if I had to.

FWIW by the time my oldest was 3 and we were deffiently out growing most any diaper the only one size she fit were the Tiny tush (old style the new trim weren't really out then) here is a picture of her in one..
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v1...t=100_0667.jpg if the date stamp is right on these she would have been 3 years 8 months there she was around 45inches tall and weighed around 34lbs. the flip side is they would be really bulky on an infant.

Knickernappies OS go pretty darn big - I got my 5 year old to fit in one just for kicks. Buy one and try it - they are a great diaper!

I ended up buying a sort of diaper sampler...got a few things I thought might work. Some family recently gave us $$ so I could afford to try a couple of things. Thanks for all your suggestions, you helped me find things and look into things I never would have thought of!
