I need healthier snack ideas!

Thread Starter
I am pregnant and hungry ALL the time.

I notice that when I snack I tend to go for sweet things and sweet things only.

I need help sneaking more protein and veggies into my snacks and I need hearty snacks...if I just eat some carrots or a handful of nuts I am gonna just want more food in an hour!

TIA...I am off to go find something to eat!

If you're craving the sweet this is my advice - eat the carrots, nuts, veggies/protein, whatever healthy and good for you snack and then follow it by a sweet hard candy you can suck on or let dissolve in your mouth. You satisfy your sweet tooth AND have had a healthy snack you don't have to feel bad about.

Here's a few ideas:

scrambled eggs (with cheese or also with a side of fried kale, steamed collards, etc)
hard boiled egg dipped in maple syrup instead of salt
cottage cheese or yogurt with peaches, pineapple, etc

blackstrap molasses is high in iron, calcuim and other good stuff, so you could use that as a sweetener

peanut butter and jelly sandwich
cold cuts can be a breakfast/snack food (on bread with jam for a sweet tooth)
spinach and feta muffins

I remember mostly knowing what I /could/ eat as a healthy snack, but getting tired of having to feed myself all the time!
Good Luck!

Sliced cheese and an apple (cheddar is yummy for this)
Cottage cheese with chopped radishes (if you like them) and a couple of crackers
Baby carrots, cheese slices, and crackers

Not sure how "healthy" it really is but it's better than sweets I guess... I like snacking on a cracker & cheese plate. I make up a little platter for myself an nibble over the course of a few hours.

- various crackers (salteen, triscuits, etc.)
- cheeses: chunks of parmigiano reggiano, cream cheese, old cheddar, soft goat cheese, vache qui rit (laughing cow cheese)
- pickles, etc.: sweet pickles, dill pickles, pickled beets, olives
- homemade jellies/preserves: pepper relish, pepper jelly, onion jelly, other preserves/jams

I tend to crave salt more than sweets though... so tortilla chips & salsa are a huge weakness for me.
