Nursing in small amounts...will it affect my supply?

Babe is nearly 5 weeks old, and we're finally getting this BF-ing thing down, for the most part. She seemed to have had a growth spurt in the last few days - constantly waking (hardly slept more than an hour at a time during the day) and eating constantly; fussing at the breast in the evening; up for three hours straight in the middle of the night, nearly inconsolable.

Only, today she has been sleeping nearly all day, barely waking to eat, and then only 10 minutes at most, and on one breast. (I've read that babies sometimes sleep off the growth spurt, or sleep at the end of one..?) Question is, will my supply be ok tomorrow, since she slowed way down on the feeding today? My breasts, particularly "the producer" as I call it, went down in size, feeling rather floppy.

Guess I'll know tomorrow if she's "back to normal", along with the breasts...just thought I'd throw this out there.

Many mums notice a feeling of being less full round about this time, as milk production switches to being completely demand-supply rather than hormonally driven - so that could explain the decrease in size and floppiness you describe. If there is any impact on supply from a sudden decrease in feeding, it should only be temporary assuming your supply has been fine so far and that she gets back to her regular feeding frequency quickly.
