need bf food suggestions

real quick since I just have a second.

Sam and I are doing great! He's up to 8lbs 10oz at our appointment last week! Gaining right on track. I was block feeding to try to get my over producer to settle down. I now think it has so all is good there. So I am easing back into more regular feedings.

My question (and point to this post ) is that I have been steadily losing weight. I am now at my pre-preg weight. Both my son's pedi and my MW have vocalized that I need not to lose any more weight, and I agree!!!
I need easy quick, on the run/nursing snack/meal ideas. Help me make my shopping list!

Oh and I have been slowly been adding back in dairy in small incriments and Sam's reflux has not been affected by it, so I can eat *some* dairy each day.

I do a lot of pita chips and hummus. Avocado and tortilla chips. I also bake a bunch of tofu and refrigerate so I have it to snack on or cut up and mix into stir fry. I try to have brown rice made all the time. Also, almonds and greek yogurt are my treats. I try to have things on hand that are quick and fairly easy to make but that have protein. Eggs are good in a pinch too.

How about fresh fruit with peanut butter or cottage cheese? I like Kashi waffles with strawberries/bueberries, too. I do a lot of packaged Kashi snacks, simply because they are so handy and tasty.

I do not have the same problem as you yet, but I fully anticipate it soon. With DS1, I lost under my pp weight and generally didn't feel well for awhile. It seemed like I was eating ALL the time and still losing weight. He was a very good eater and nursed for 19 months. Keep up your prenatals if you are taking them. They really helped me.

I'm in the same boat... under pre-pg weight and my MW has blatantly stated that that's not helping my supply issues.

I made a big batch of tapioca pudding today with coconut milk for all the good fats - it's a great quick snack. I pulled out a beef roast, and will cook that up tomorrow to have on hand for sandwiches or tacos or whatever at lunch time. The last couple days I've been eating hummus and carrots, which is great. Good fats are really important for your LO.

Heck, as a snack today I spread a piece of bread with coconut oil and a touch of honey and just ate that.

I love to do hummus with pita chips. I also usually keep a few protein bars in my diaper bag for when I am on the go-maybe not the best choice, but easy to keep around and simple to eat one handed. We keep sandwich makings in the fridge and I love to have a bowl of probiotic yogurt and granola each morning.

What a bummer of a problem to have, huh?! Heehee!

I had this problem during Connor's pregnancy, I was nursing Ian still and was losing weight instead of gaining. Afraid that my OB would try to make me wean, I had to focus on good foods.

For on-the-go snacks, I broke down and bought pre-made foods, like nutrigrain bars, Lara Bars, those oatmeal bars, granola bars, etc. At home I also did apple slices in peanut butter, fruit smoothies with whole-fat yogurt, I drank meal replacement shakes as a snack (might be too much dairy, can you do soy though?)

Premade foods are a lifesaver at this stage of the game. I know it's not ideal, but you can find organic frozen meals and some 'better for you' meal replacement bars, etc.... Just things you can grab to keep the calories coming. Charlotte isn't a fussy baby, but Maddie was and BOY! It's hard to eat with a screaming baby, and I certainly wasn't going to let her scream while I 'cooked/prepared' food....so I skipped a LOT of meals. Being able to pop somthing into the microwave or nosh a bar was much more doable.
