6 months and baby's low on the weight chart again!

is anyone else having trouble fattening up their bf baby?
dd just got weighed at wic and she charts in at tall, but thin again! she breastfeeds frequently on demand (7-8 times a day perhaps plus night nursing) and has been eating some solids in addition for about a month(stuff like avocado, sweet potato, whole grain mushes, and egg yolk).
at her dr's visits weight has always been an issue so we have worked with a lc which increased my supply a lot but not her weight. she is very active, bright, and healthy and pees and poops plenty so i know she's not starving.

The 1st thing I'd do is chart her on the WHO's BF baby chart. My dd was at the 10% for weight of the formula charts and just below the 50% on the BF charts.

This would make me comfortable not worrying too much. As long as she is growing and meeting milestones, then being on the low end of the charts is not a bad thing. Someone has to be in those percentiles. She may just be naturally tall and thin.

I'll bet your supply is fine.

DS has been low on the chart from the get-go. He nursed voraciously on demand day and night. By two, he was off the charts (the negative way). Doc said he was the size of most one year olds, but on his chart he wrote "well-nourished."

He also said if it were his kid, he wouldn't worry about it (the doc is an natural-minded MD).

We've never been able to fatten up our child, but he's hit all the milestones on time and is full of energy and life.

Keep in mind that twenty-five years ago the medical community didn't obsess with charts and parents weren't made to feel fearful if their kid was "too thin" or "too fat."

Someones kid has to be at the bottom of the charts, its no more of a concern than if that kid were at the top. Some kids are just tiny and some are huge. My DD started off in the 10% and dropped to the 3% and she is healthy. She is hitting milestones and growing like a weed for her size. She is just tiny. She eats a lot, nurses a lot, and plays a lot. Her eyes and smile are bright, she is learning something new everyday. At 19 months she is only 19 lbs, but she is doing awesome for her.

It sounds like she is doing great, honestly. Has she significantly dropped in percentiles?

We are having the same problem. At 12 months, DS was only 15 pounds 10.5 ounces and today, at 12.5 months he's 16 pounds 2 ounces. At 6 months he was 11 pounds 6 ounces.

I just wrote a long post on a similar thread in Life with a Babe. DS is hitting all his milestones just fine, is super happy and social, but he's not plump. The doctor is mildly concerned - she'd like him to take in more calories to enable him to "catch up".

At 6 months I wish I had:
---gotten a really good electric pump and started pumping extra milk for him a few times a day
---gone on Motilium/ domperidone to up my supply - it's available from In House Pharmacy online - in New Zealand, I believe.

I've done both these things now, but I wish I'd done them earlier. I really don't know if my supply was low or not. It might be fine for my DS's needs - but there's definitely MORE milk with the domperidone than without it.

Olivia is 8 mos and 15.5#. She was 14#15oz at her 6 mos appt. My last 2 kids hit 16# between 9-10 mos old. Evan was just over 18# at 1 and Ilana was almost 21# at 1! She really grew from 10-12 mos. I'm not worried about Olivia, she's happy, wets enough diapers, eats often, she's fine.
