'stinky' question...

Okay, seriously, I am almost embarrased to ask this question, BUT....
When you use cloth diapers what do you actually do with the poop? I mean you leave it in the diaper sitting in the pail to go into the washer, right? So you must remove it from the diaper... do you just dump it into the toilet each time? Or are there other tricks I haven't thought of? And what is the deal with 'cloth' wipes? To me that would be another mess to put in the washer....or do you use toilet paper or something for the worst of it and then use the cloth wipe? These seem like silly questions but I really don't know many people that actually use cloth diapers.....sorry if I seem dense.

I just dump it in the toilet everytime. I have a diaper sprayer I sometimes use, and other times it cleanly rolls into the toilet. I don't shake off or rinse cloth wipes- I haven't had an issue just tossing them in the wash as is. I always do a prewash to get anything off the diapers/wipes before I wash with soap.

For little ones, it all just goes in the pail. When they start eating food and it gets chunky I dunk it in the toilet to remove the big stuff then it goes in the pail. Wipes just go in the pail in our house. I don't use anything but cloth wipes unless I run out. HTH

Once my babes have gotten to the "oh that's totally gross" poop, I drop what I can into the toilet, then rinse the diaper. It helps with stains and smells to rinse right away. Then I toss in the pail. Usually once they get to that stage they are only going 1x a day (or less if you're lucky!) Little babies (say up to 7 or 8 months) just go in the pail and rinse before washing.

One thing people don't seem to know is that you are supposed to dump the solids out in the toilet when using disposables. Just thought I would throw that out there! Most people don't though, and it ends up in the trah and groundwater.

when baby is ebf, you don't have to do anything special. just throw the poopy diaper in the machine as is.

once baby starts solids, it's best to try to get off as much as you can. Some people use a diaper sprayer. Others use liners (flushable or fleece). Some people keep a spatula next to the toilet to scrape, etc. Lots of options.

I love using cloth wipes. I just toss it in the diaper pail with everything else. I hate hate hate when I am out and only have disposible wipes. Then I have to either throw it in the trash can, which is gross, or take it home with me and try to dig it out of the wetbag before I throw my stuff in the washer, which is even grosser. Ick.

I only only very occasionally dip my wipe in the toilet to get a chunk off - only if it's a big chunk, probably not even once a month. Normal poo soiled wipes just go in the pail.

Just let the sposie wipes go through the washer/dryer and then toss them as your putting away diapers. They can surive several wash cycles.

I use a flushable liner for his regular morning poop and flushable toddler wipes (just one or two and finish off with a cloth wipe) flushy wipes and liner go right in the toliet, diaper and cloth wipe go into the seperate poopy pail. If it's an unexpected poop and I don't have a liner in, I just dunk it in the toliet until it comes loose.

Poop goes in the toilet regardless of the type of diaper. Most people using cloth usually use a water spray gun to help it rinse off. That way, you have to wash off less. It really only becomes an issue after you start solids. Cloth wipes are the same.

The difference between cloth and disposables is that cloth mommas actually *do* it and thus far I have met one person who dumped the poop in a disposable in the toilet. ME.

Poop should never go in the trash. That is disuguesting. It is horrible to human waste in landfills and results in water contamination. All those devices you see for diaper disposable? All becauseof the stink of poop that wasn't properly cared for. If you dump the poop and just change your trash regularly you don't need one, if using disposables.

We spray off into the toilet with the diaper sprayer for diapers and really soiled cloth wipes, and then do a cold prewash when washing the diapers. I think very little poop ever gets into the washing machine, and what does is gone with the prewash.

Spray off the poop with a diaper sprayer, spray off the wipes if they have a lot of poop on them, put in pail, wash every other day with a cold prewash.

I dump solid poop into the toilet right away. I dunk and swish in the toilet if necessary. Then the diaper goes into the pail. I do the same with cloth wipes, although it's extremely rare that I have to actually dunk a wipe.
