Experience after clipping tongue-tie?

Hi!
My son just had a posterior tongue tie clipped two days ago, and feeding seems to have improved. I am wondering, does anyone know if pain in the tongue can linger for a few days under normal circumstances? After he feeds, or when I burp him, he cries a lot and at first I thought he was wanting to continue feeding, but today I've kind of felt like it might be a painful cry. I haven't run across any information saying that it's normal or abnormal for pain to persist, and he seemed fine right after the clip after feeding for a few minutes. Any ideas? Thanks!

My two children had posterior tongue tie and I don't think the clipping pain lasted. But, it took several weeks for nursing to be "normal" with my older son -- clipped at 8 weeks, normal by 20 weeks. This time around, it was clipped at 4 weeks, and now at 7 weeks we're still working on it. He cries during/after nursing, but he has reflux and a lot of trouble getting gas out. Usually when he cries it's because he has a burp that he can't get out. It can take a while to help him get it out.

With the clipping, he'll be nursing differently, so I wonder if you might experience things that didn't happen before, such as extra gas? That's what I've been thinking in my situation...

I've seen several posterior clippings where baby obviously had mouth pain for about a week. I know I have pain if I get a cut in my mouth - I'm prone to mouth ulcers, and I know for sure that's what happened to one little guy as you could see them under his tongue.

Did whoever did the clip talk to you about pain medication for baby?

The doc didn't mention anything about pain (or anything else) for after it was done. If it was pain, it seems like he's gotten past that now. That first few days it seemed like when he would cry after nursing, it was more of a pain cry, but now it's back to a "wait, I wasn't done yet!" He has been nursing pretty frequently, but not for as long at a time as he used to.
He does seem to have trouble getting burps out, sometimes at night he wakes up an hour after I feed him and then he burps -- don't know if that's why he woke or not. And he has had gassy periods on and off, so maybe now is one of them -- I think he's so happy to get lots of milk quickly that he doesn't pace himself too well yet! He hasn't had reflux that I know of.
My ND does craniosacral therapy, so we're going to talk about doing that, too.

Yay - I'm so glad that he isn't uncomfortable any more (except for the gas ) Let us know how the CST goes if you do it.

Cst

We did the craniosacral therapy this week. So far, I haven't seen much different. Although, his feeding has been improving ever since getting the tongue-=tie clipped, so we were doing pretty well before doing CST anyway. I figured out one cause for some of his gas -- it gets really bad after I eat a bunch of chocolate , he cries for over an hour! Won't be doing that again (sad for me!)
