Woman at license office said it was a first for her...

Today, DS and I had a LONG day of running errands. We had to spend quite a long time at the WIC office (quote from lady printing checks when she asked why there were no formula checks and I said he'd never had a bottle and was too old for formula besides: "Well what did you FEED him then??? ) then we went to the post office and I had to get a new driver's license. Well, DS had missed his nap so he was asleep in my arms at the license office (not typical behavior of my highly-active toddler!)

When I sat down to fill out the form, DS started whimpering so I latched him on. Then the lady asked if I could do my eye test and I stood and did that while nursing (she was very amused at this point.) I asked if I had to put him down for the picture and she said no, it would be fine. She took the picture while DS was sleepily nursing away. After, she told me that it was a first for her and told me that next time I renew, I should lie and say I lost the license so they won't take it away and then I can keep it for the baby book!

Long story short: I nursed a toddler in my driver's license picture!!!

Very Awesome!!!

Oh, FTR, you can ask them to cut the top off of your license or otherwise "destroy" it (not the picture) so you can keep it if you want...at least, here you can.

That is awesome, both for you and the DMV woman. I've never met a helpful DMV person, no matter what the issue.

Well since the license picture is only of my face, you can't see the sleeping toddler and boob. Only me and the DMV lady (and now you guys) know he was there. I'll show you mah mug anyway if ya really want!

me too, you can see the top of DD's head in my Costco pic.

And I've been able to keep all my DLs. They just punch a hole in the exp date.

I know, right? That was hilarious. She looked at my checks and said "well why aren't there...." and looked confused and I said "oh no what's wrong?" because I'd already been there for well over an hour. She said "I was wondering why there were no baby checks for formula or cereal but I looked at the date and it looks like he's not a baby anymore!!" (My child looks like a 2 year old anyway so that was confusing.) I said "he's never gotten formula checks anyway- he's never had a bottle!" She said "Oh well what did you feed him???" with this shocked look, then a few seconds passed (I was preoccupied) and she said "oh, I guess you must have breastfed right?" I told her I did and asked if they just don't have many mamas that don't get formula and she said (indignant at this point "oh, well... it happens but everyone stops at some point. You're really lucky that you made it a whole year." I replied (smiling ear to ear) "I don't see what luck has to do with it and I don't think anyone HAS to stop until well after they'd need checks. HE still nurses almost exclusively!" Grinned, and high-tailed it out of there. LOL
