So, my 11 yr old lab/golden retriever has been breathing really loudly and snoring/snorting when she's sleeping, which has never happened before. I just figured it was part of getting old. But my dh said last night he's heard there is a dog flu going around, and he's seen her with a copious runny nose, which has never happened before in her life, either. (I haven't seen it and I'm home with her every day, so it isn't all day/every day).

She is eating fine, seems happy, energetic, etc. Not sick.

What can we do to strengthen their immune systems? (We have 2 dogs, the other one is 8 and seems fine) We can't afford a lot of different supplements but could do possibly 1 or 2 things. Do dogs need extra vitamin C like people do? They eat pretty decent food- not TOP of the line, but food made with real vegetables, eggs, flax, and probiotics.

We have a pretty mainstream vet and I don't think they'll have suggestions about this type of thing. At most I think they'd recommend a flu shot! (my dh said they have a canine flu shot!)
