Mastitis, and now - what is this?

Tuesday morning I woke up feeling very ill, and shortly after realized I had mastitis. I felt like I had an awful flu with fever for 2 days, and have continued to have pain in my breast since then, but it has been improving.
I've been doing all the usual suggestions - nursing on that side often, warm washcloths or shower before nursing, expressing, massaging, etc. My doctor did not think I should need antibiotics since the fever came down.

Last night I was expressing and felt little "pops" as I squeezed down to the areola. Almost as if there were tiny air bubbles releasing. I realized then that I may have been pressing too hard, stopped, and went to bed.

This morning woke up with a very painful, swollen areola. It looks like a varicose vein actually. What have I done?? Any ideas if this may be serious? I assume that the lobules may be damaged somehow. It flares up quite a bit after nursing, and hurts (sharp, stabby pain).

I am hoping to see my doctor because I'm all worried about this now.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated!

sharp stabby pain inside the breast can be yeast. I'd get it looked at.
