When would your midwive(s) deliver?

My midwives have told me to ask my doctor (I'm seeing both my doctor and a the two midwives who will be at my home for the birth) when is the earliest a person can have a homebirth.

They want me to ask because I had my first daughter at 38 weeks and this baby is engaged, and they are worried I will only make it to 36 weeks. They said they are totally comfortable delivering once I have hit 36 weeks, but wan t me to discuss it with my doc. My doctor is very pro homebirth, btw.

But I'm just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and how it turned out.

I'm currently 32w 3 days pregnant.

My midwife could do between 37 and 42 weeks, which I think is the law here. However, she was willing to stretch it to 43 for me with NSTs as long as I was willing to take responsibility for changing my charting dates on her.

Hm, yeah I mean My MW delivers earlyfor Mennonites all the time.

I just don't know if it's something I should do. Ugh.

My midwife looks at the individual pregnancy, how big the baby feels, how the mom's health is, how accurate the mom thinks the dates are...she doesn't go by a hard and fast cut off week on either side of the due date, which I appreciate (I tend to go at least a week late, for instance). We have no law about it here either though.

Same here- that might mean 37 weeks or 36 weeks or whatever.

I don't think we have a law either, that I know of. I think she would have informed me otherwise and wouldn't have wanted me to ask my doctor.

I am 100% sure of my due date.

This baby is super healthy and has been measuring on time and even 2 weeks ahead every prenatal.

Maybe I should add my daughter had IUGR.

This fetus shows no signs. So As far as we know it's totally healthy.

My MW would not attend at home before 37 weeks. She did not have an upper limit.

My MW first said 37 weeks. Around 35 weeks i had a feeling he ws coming early and so I kinda pleaded my case and she said she would be comfortable wih amytime after 36 weeks. Since we knew he was a boy and boys tend to have breathing issues prior to 36 weeks, we would have gone to the hops had it happened before then. I went into labor at 37w,4d and had him at exactly 38 weeks.

My MW said that she will deliver me as early as 36 weeks because with my other 3 (hossy births) I've delivered between 37-1 & 37-4. Her policy varies with each mom and pregnancy, though.

I have a feeling my midwives policy also varies but I'm guessing this is why she wants me to talk to the doctor first.
Hm.

Normally, 37 weeks. Like your midwife, if a client had concerns I would have them discuss it with the doctor and if they said 36 I would probably do it but would be a little nervous. In the past when my consulting physician has been asked he's said he would be comfortable with 37 and a half.

Legally I have to consult for labor before 37 weeks. Last year I got in some trouble for going on on a limb for a client and staying home when she went into labor at 36 weeks 6 days.

My midwives' window is 37-42 weeks. So I have roughly two weeks until I'm all clear.

'Legally,' it's 37 - 43 weeks, but she's comfortable with around 36. Which is my comfort level also. Although since I'm sure of my dates I'd have to do some internal searching since my previous two were at 40 and 41 weeks. My babies cook longer, so I'd have to decide if early labor were a sign of a problem, iykwim.

My midwife will deliver the twins at 36 wks.

homebirth in Ontario is between 37 weeks and 42 weeks. (although my mw's don't mind fudging on the late side if BPP's and Bishops score's are a-okay). I wouldn't feel comfortable birthing at home before 37 weeks.

Homebirth with a midwife here is between 37 and 42 weeks. I'll be 37 weeks on Tuesday......so after that anytime.

That is exactly what my midwife said. Well, I did have an u/s and he was measuring a few days behind, so we wrote that down "in case" we need it to be longer. She would feel comfortable with 36 week (as would I), but not before - but that pesky law...

37-42 weeks here in WI. But she said that we can get a Dr.'s permission to go at 36w4d if everything is fine/healthy with mom and baby.
