fun with flats

So I had gerber flats with my first I loved the versitility of flats but the gerbers were often frustrating because the size was soo weird. My order of LL flats arrived a few days ago and I am TOTALLY back in love again. I don't want flats as my main diaper I still as a whole prefer a slightly faster change and NEED it during those toddler years but there is jsut something soothing to the art of flat folding.. So here are some of my favorites and a few I've learned over the years. These are all folded for an infant NB but pretty much all could be done on a larger baby/toddler as well. Enjoy. PS I used a snappi for these cause its faster but all these work really well with pins.. Notice that my red snappi gre legs and walked off just during my flat fold demo and I had the swich to purple LOL.

girl fold often called the Gaynor's Fold one of my favorite and a classic pretty fold

Ok, yours look WAYYY better than mine! Good to know that mine can get better!
I've tried the origami, neat and kite. The kite seems similar to the neat fold, as far as the final shape goes, right?

Those are nice! I've been playing around with flats, but mine never turn out that nice. They always go way down on the legs. I think it may be because I am using flannel, and it just doesn't seem to fold as well as birdseye or gauze. Thanks for the pics!

Ah, thanks for the info on the neat vs. kite! I only have 6 flats to work with, and I've only had them a few days, so I haven't gotten the hang of it yet

I'm impressed! When I used flats, I just folded them into a rectangle and used them like prefolds...no creativity at all .

When you put the diaper on, roll the side edges in towards the rest of the diapper. The side edges become the leg holes. Start at the front of the diaper with a tiny piece of the fabric and sort of let it expand to a bigger roll as it goes.

I love the idea of folding flats and am planning to use mostly flats with my newborn.

Why do I love the idea of folding flats, instead of being annoyed by it? Couldn't say. I also love wraparound baby carriers, and I assume it's related! I just feel so skilled and it's so fun!

Thanks for all the pics!

yeah gerbers are like rectangles instead of squares so they are funky to fold. not to mention you can SEE THROUGH THEM! but they work awesome trifolded in a good flat for my 21 month old. we love flats in our house for stuffing pocket fitteds too.
